Are You Hiring an Ace or a Dud? This Simple Test Will Tell

So, you’re ready to hire help. What next? How do you find the “perfect-fit” for your business?

I want to help. The following criteria will reveal volumes about your potential Filipino workers.

If you find a Filipino virtual worker who is strong in all of the following areas, HIRE THEM. They’ll make great employees and you’ll be able to train them to do almost anything.

To start, review all of your emails/communication through OnlineJobs.ph. Then ask yourself the following about your potential Filipino employee:

1. How is their English? (Remember that some jobs don’t require perfect English, but it’s important that their skills are good enough to clearly communicate with you.) Proficient English should be your first qualification priority. You will probably find some oddities in their English, but the general command of English in the Philippines is phenomenal. (Definitely don’t hold out for perfect English in programmers, designers, webmasters, or other technical types of workers.)

2. Did they respond promptly? Keep in mind that your jobseeker is probably sleeping while you’re sending him/her emails (The Philippines is on the other side of the world). Give them at least 24 hours to respond. If they respond sooner, it’s a bonus and you know you’ve found a winner. If they respond 3 days after you send the email, that’s probably how they’ll respond when they’re working for you.

3. Did they follow directions and answer your questions clearly? In my 4-email-funnel recruiting approach (refer to the Hiring Genius here), I suggest that you give them a task to follow as part of the interview process. Pay close attention to how/if they execute your task. Also, make sure they have clearly answered all of your questions - if they don’t, it’s possible they may be hiding something or they just don’t pay attention to detail. Either way, it doesn’t look good.

4. Is their communication professionally crafted? If they’re using texting abbreviations and more emojis than words, you may want to reconsider...

5. Are they detail-oriented? Let their work and communication speak for itself (so to speak). The more detail-oriented they are, the easier it will be to train them on new tasks. It’s next to impossible for you to break someone else’s sloppy work habits, so unless you don’t mind sloppy work, find someone else.

Your ideal worker is out there, and we’re going to help you find them.

So happy hiring,
John Jonas and the OnlineJobs.ph Crew
