Masterclass Part 1: Why the Philippines increases your chances of success

Welcome to the first part of my outsourcing masterclass series!  I’m going to start by giving you some background about how I got launched into outsourcing, and it wasn’t pretty... I attempted my first online business back in 2003, back when making money on the internet was still a relatively novel affair. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was determined to give my wife and kids a radically different lifestyle than the way I was raised. And I was ready to work my butt off to do exactly that. So I conceptualized this ‘brilliant’ online business plan. My goal was to automate its processes so that ultimately, I could work minimal hours and the business would run itself.  Once I got my business up and running, I ended up working MORE hours instead of less to keep the business actually functioning. It left me burnt out, frustrated, and borderline defeated. It was the exact opposite of what I’d dreamed about. I knew I needed help so I started hiring locally.  Unfortunately, the first thing people did when they realized I was making money online was quit.   They realized “I can go do this on my own.” So I turned to India (that’s what everyone did at the time). Disaster. Headaches. Communication problems. Missed deadlines. Paid salaries with nothing delivered. It’s no wonder outsourcing has such a bad reputation. It wasn’t until I got a tip to hire in the Philippines that it all changed for me.  I didn’t realize this at the time but the culture of the Philippines makes a HUGE difference on the experience you’ll have. Culturally, Filipinos are: - Loyal - Honest - Hard working - Speak American english - Have computers and internet access - Not entrepreneurial (won’t steal your ideas) If you’ve tried this before, give it another try with the Philippines.  It will make all the difference. Masterclass Tip #1 - The cultural differences of the Philippines make a huge difference.  Not that you can’t find good people elsewhere, you can.  It’s just easier in the Philippines. Their loyalty means almost zero turnover which is a huge deal for a small business (as long as you treat them well...more about this in another email). Culturally, they WANT to make you happy.  If something isn't working out, first think "this person wants to do good work for me. What have I done that is preventing them from doing good work?" Masterclass Tip #1b - A "VA" is not a secretary. I prefer to call them OFS - Online Filipino Specialists.  You can hire specialists in just about any field.
